Speaking of spreadsheets, I got a 5e srd monster file in a spreadsheet. I wanted to look at all the special abilities to help me make creatures for the April/May game.
I still have cleanup, but there are about 150ish special abilities, just from srd monsters.
In the end, I hope to have a generator, similar to Crabaugh's, but for 5e.
Wherein I start working on 5E and end up modding Statis-Pro Football.
Spending the day at home while my wonderful spouse is in class. While my son is working on Math and the inner working of Tidal Power plants, I think about working on the 5e game in May.
Instead, I find myself calculating the Standard Deviation of several American Football running backs' rushing attempts. I have play by play stats from 2002 to 2017 (including Superbowl LII). I typed in the fateful words: Min, Max, Mean, Median, STDEV and start calculating.
I have long loved Statis-Pro Football because every player has a stat card. The rules for making cards are easily available. There are two leagues, that I know of, that still play fantasy football using Statis-Pro and homebrew rules for Salary Caps.
I wanted to find a way to remove the guesswork from some of the cardmaking and yet again, have come up empty. Oh well.
I guess my son and I were both doing math today. 🙂
Big news: the cousins (my nephews) got 5e and they invited me to run a game in Minnesota the next time my family visits. My kids now want to play 5e. (They've played a bit of Dungeon World and The Black Hack).
So, the family agreed that I need to get the group back together or form a new group to run a 5e game. The goal is April/May. (Work stuff and other factors prevent anything sooner.)
My kids want to play all kinds of homebrew races/classes, so work begins. I posted in a local group about a game and there was interest in something that is not Adventure League or a published setting.
Time to go through the notebooks and convert a bunch of stuff. Time to make unique dragons instead of the chromatic/metallic/gemstone paradigm. Work begins on converting my toolkits to 5e. Bwa ha ha ha.
